Forge Nano assembles complete & exclusive intellectual property rights portfolio for Lithium-Ion battery production using Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) technology                                         Company also named a finalist for prestigious R&D100 Awards

LOUISVILLE, Colo., September 11, 2017 — Forge Nano today announced that it has assembled exclusive intellectual property rights to produce safer, longer-lasting Lithium-Ion battery products with the company’s breakthrough high throughput Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) coating technology.

The company secured key exclusive IP licensing agreements and made significant IP acquisitions in 2017 to round out the IP portfolio for ALD coated battery materials, production process and other patents issued directly to Forge Nano by the USPTO.

Forge Nano also announced that it had been named a finalist for the prestigious R&D100 Awards as Co-Developer with General Motors. The R&D 100 Awards have long been considered the most globally prestigious recognition of invention and innovation. Winners will be announced in November.

“We’re really pleased with the progress Forge Nano has made over the past year,” said Paul Lichty, CEO and Co-founder of Forge Nano. “Simultaneously finalizing our IP rights while completing the design, build and commissioning of our high throughput ALD coating tool capable of coating 2.5 metric tons per day gives our hard working team an incredible amount of satisfaction. And being honored as an R&D100 Awards finalist shows we’re racing forward, but we will certainly celebrate these milestones.”

Completion of the IP roll-up initiative enables Forge Nano’s customers and partners to confidently incorporate ALD surface modification coatings in battery products for enhanced safety, lifetime, end-use performance in cost-competitive, scale manufacturing.
